Between 1980 and 1992, The United States pumped an average of $1million a day into the war in El Salvador, supporting the El Salvadoran military.

That military regime was fighting a group of guerillas that is generally considered to have represented the interests of most of the people of El Salvador.

About 75,000 people died in the war in El Salvador.
